1. Who may take part

The exam is open to students studying in Standard 1 to Standard 12 at a school in India, in any curriculum and any state or union territory.
Each registration is for one student, in the standard they are studying in at the time of registration. A parent or guardian registers on the student’s behalf and is responsible for the details given.
Registration needs an Indian mobile number. Brets Pvt Ltd may ask for proof of the student’s standard and school (such as a school ID card or a letter from the school) before paying a scholarship.
Employees of Brets Pvt Ltd and the question writers may not register their own children.

2. The exam

The exam fee is ₹100 per attempt, paid online.
The exam is online and lasts one hour in a single sitting: General knowledge (15 minutes), Life skills and character (15 minutes) and English language (30 minutes), in that order. Each section has its own time; a section cannot be reopened once it has ended.
A registration paid on or before the 25th of a month belongs to that month’s exam; one paid after it belongs to the next month’s. The exam may be taken any time after payment until the last day of that month.
Once started, the clock does not stop. If the connection is lost, the student may sign in again and continue with the time remaining.
A paid registration that is not used in its month is moved to the next month once, free. If it is not used then, it lapses.
The student must take the exam alone. Leaving the exam screen is recorded. Brets Pvt Ltd may disqualify an attempt where there is clear evidence of help or impersonation.
Every standard sits an exam of the same level and structure; questions are drawn from a bank for each standard, so students receive different questions of equal difficulty.

3. Marking

Questions with one correct option are marked automatically.
The written answer and the read-aloud are marked by an AI examiner against an age-appropriate rubric. Pronunciation is judged for clarity and intelligibility; a natural Indian accent is not marked down.
The overall score is weighted by the time given to each section: English counts for half, general knowledge and life skills for a quarter each.

4. How many scholarships each month

The number of scholarships awarded each month depends on the number of paid registrations for that month.
Each month’s scholarships are funded in full from that month’s exam fees. The total cost of the month’s scholarships over their whole 12 months (including the memento and certificate) is kept to no more than one half of the month’s exam fees after payment-gateway charges.
At the current fee and scholarship amount this is about one scholarship for every 758 paid registrations. If fewer students register, fewer scholarships — possibly none — are awarded that month.
Scholarships are shared between the twelve standards in proportion to the number of paid registrations in each standard.

5. How winners are chosen

Each standard has its own merit list. Within a standard, the highest overall scores win; ties are broken by the shorter time taken, then by the earlier submission.
A student must score at least 60% overall to be eligible. A scholarship that cannot be filled in one standard passes to the highest-scoring eligible student in another standard; if nobody is eligible, it is not awarded.
If a student makes more than one attempt in the same month, only their best attempt counts on that month’s merit list.
A student who is already receiving a BRETS scholarship cannot win another while it runs.
Results are announced on the 5th of the following month on this website, by email and on WhatsApp. The decision of Brets Pvt Ltd on results is final.

6. The award

A scholarship is ₹3,000 a month for 12 months, a memento, an online verifiable certificate, and free access to the LangVR courses reserved for scholarship winners (listed value ₹1,00,000).
The winner’s family must enter a bank account in the student’s name (a minor’s account or a joint account with a parent or guardian is accepted) in the dashboard. Brets Pvt Ltd checks the account before the first payment.
Payments are made on the 5th of each month, starting the month after results. Instalments that fall due before the bank details are received and checked are held and paid once they are, not forfeited.
A scholarship may be withdrawn if the registration details prove false or the attempt is disqualified.

7. For every participant

Every student who completes the exam receives free access to the LangVR courses reserved for participants (listed value ₹25,000), opened on the account used to register.
Registered students may use the free practice rounds on this website.
A student who does not win may register again and make another attempt at any time, by paying the exam fee again.

8. Refunds and privacy

The exam fee is not refundable once the exam has been started. A completed payment that did not show as confirmed is confirmed automatically within a few minutes. If money was debited but the payment never completed, the bank returns it, usually within 5–7 working days.
If a technical fault on our side stops an exam, contact us on WhatsApp; we may reset the attempt so the student can sit again.
Student details are used only to run the exam, contact the family, pay scholarships and plan school outreach. Public results show a student’s first name and surname initial, standard, school and district. Full names appear only on the certificate page reached by its own code.
